Measure acceleration properly

NavGPS prefers the vehicle's speed sensor over GPS: it updates faster and doesn't drift. Your best runs are kept.

Before you start

  • An OBDLink MX+ connected for the best accuracy

Steps

  1. Open Performance
    Engine tab → the ••• menu → Performance.
  2. Come to a stop
    The timer arms itself when you are stationary.
  3. Accelerate
    It starts on movement and stops at the target speed.
  4. Compare runs
    Best results are kept so you can see whether a change actually did anything.

Worth knowing

  • Do this somewhere legal. A closed course or a drag strip, not a public road.
  • Without an adapter it falls back to GPS, which is slower to update and less precise.
