How-To

Get MPG and distance-to-empty that mean something

Fuel figures come from the engine feed, but range needs to know how big your tank is. Set it once per vehicle and the numbers mean something.

Before you start

  • An OBDLink MX+ connected, with a vehicle saved

Steps

  1. Open Fuel & Engine
Engine tab → the ••• menu → Fuel & Engine.
  2. Enter the tank size
In gallons or litres. This is what turns a fuel-level percentage into a usable range.
  3. Add fuel price if you want cost
With a price per gallon, the card also shows what the drive cost.
  4. Read it while you drive
The fuel card shows economy now, economy this drive, fuel burned and range, all logged against the track.

Worth knowing

  • Economy is derived from the engine's own sensors, so it reflects what the vehicle is doing rather than an average of your fill-ups.
  • If your speedometer is off because of tire size, fix that first — see correcting for tire size.
