How-To

Be told when something is getting hot

A gauge only helps if you are looking at it, and the phone is usually face-down in a cupholder when the transmission starts cooking. Alarms are what make the reading useful.

Before you start

  • An OBDLink MX+ connected

Steps

  1. Open alarms
Engine tab → the ••• menu → Alarms.
  2. Add a threshold
Pick a parameter and the value that should trigger it. Transmission temperature is the usual first one.
  3. Know how it reaches you
A banner shows on the map, and it speaks the warning aloud — delivery is layered because the screen may not be in front of you.

Worth knowing

  • Alarms work on custom parameters too, not only the standard ones.
