NAVGPS

How-To

Find out what the light means

A check engine light means your vehicle has stored a fault code. NavGPS reads it, tells you what it means in plain words, and clears it once you have dealt with it.

Before you start

  • An OBDLink MX+ connected, with the ignition on

Steps

  1. Open trouble codes
Engine tab → the ••• menu → Vehicles → Trouble Codes & Reset.
  2. Read what's stored
Stored and pending codes are listed with their descriptions, so you are not searching a five-character code by hand.
  3. Fix the cause
Clearing a code does not repair anything. It will come back if the fault is still there.
  4. Clear when you're done
Clearing also resets readiness monitors, which can matter if you have an emissions test coming — drive a full cycle before testing.

Worth knowing

  • It reads both the codes already stored and the pending ones a vehicle sets before the light comes on.
