NAVGPS

How-To

Read something the standard gauges don't cover

Vehicles report far more than the standard set of readings. If you can find the code and the sum for yours, NavGPS will read it and show it like any other gauge.

Before you start

  • An OBDLink MX+ connected
  • The code and sum for your vehicle, usually from an owners' forum

Steps

  1. Open Custom Parameters
Engine tab → the ••• menu → Custom Parameters.
  2. Enter the code
The code your vehicle answers to — 2182 is the one Toyota uses for transmission temperature, for example. Forums for your model are where these are shared.
  3. Enter the sum
The sum that turns the vehicle's answer into a readable number, and the unit to show it in. Both come from the same forum post as the code above.
  4. Put it on the dashboard
It appears in Dashboard Layout marked custom, where it can be reordered, resized and given a dial like any other.

Worth knowing

  • Custom parameters can have alarms set on them too.
  • They are stored per vehicle, so two trucks keep their own.
